Inclusive Play Park

You have found Scotland’s first fully inclusive play park, which opened in 2018. It is one of three in the whole park, built for children aged 18 months to 14 years old it includes a multi-sensory maze, sensory units, wheelchair swings, inclusive panels, springers and a wheelchair roundabout.

There’s musical play equipment and rubber mounds in the shape of everybody’s favourite bug ladybird and a snail. You can find benches, litter bins and wheelchair-accessible picnic tables made from recycled plastic.

You can watch a short video of the park made by the creators.

Active play stimulates the imagination displacing reason and restraint. A swing can create a marauding pirate swinging from bowsail mast to assist his sword-fighting friend on deck. The roundabout starts slow, but before you know it you’re on the Spaceship Peacock hurtling through a black hole triggering a time leap, as the roundabout slows you see the park around you has transformed as you are now 100 years into the future…
